Help wanted: Your input on a new principal
ACPS is trying to move quickly to fill the giant shoes of our beloved principal. To that end, we’ll host a Community Engagement Forum on Thursday April 6th at 6:30pm in the cafeteria to discuss desired qualities in a new principal. We will be joined by Dr. Lisa Piehota (ACPS Executive Director of Elementary School Instruction) and Joe Makolandra (ACPS Chief Human Resources Officer).
Spring2Action!
One day, lots of solicitations, and ideally a lot of giving. Spring2Action – Alexandria’s big day of fundraising – is set for April 5 and we want to raise $10,000, which will go toward a new 3-D printer (to connect art with science and technology) and much more. The grade that raises the most cash wins free dress for one week! Learn more or donate early: https://spring2action.razoo.com/Maurypta

Wanted: Gently used children’s books for family fun night
We are collecting books for a Jan. 27 family fun night with the Maury PTA and with our friends at Cora Kelly. Do you have gently used children’s books you’d like to shed? Do you want to do something nice to commemorate the MLK holiday? Please drop them off at my house or 23 W. Myrtle. Thank you in advance!
Maury Draft Minutes from January Meeting
Did you miss the January Maury meeting? Catch up on the happenings here.
Program registration is live!
Spring programs are here!
Online registration opens at 9am on Monday, January 9th. You will receive the link to the online portal via this very Maury Yahoo Group! Our intrepid communications director Jess Wehrman will also post it on the website http://brookspta.org/programs after 9am on Monday.
Should you desire to secure a spot in those crazy-in-demand classes and become your kids’ hero for a hot minute, I recommend with utmost VEHEMENCE that you use our online registration portal. If you do not have internet access (which, if you’re reading this email, makes no sense) or, if you’re applying for a scholarship, we have sent home a paper registration form (inside your brochure) for your use.
**WARNING: if you use the paper form for a regular registration, there’s no guarantee that it will get to me before some classes fill up. LOOK FOR THE ONLINE LINK ON MONDAY!!
We carefully vet and select our vendors from a list of both new and returning professional education organizations. We also have a host of our own homegrown Maury teachers offering classes this spring! All vendor information will be available on our online portal—look for them there.
We will do our very best to keep the community up-to-date with the commencement of the program, as well as any changes to the program due to inclement weather or instructor absences. BUT PLEASE: once you receive your confirmation email verifying your child’s spot in class, PUT THE DATES IN YOUR CALENDAR!
Special Education presentation
